Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 24

In Greene County district court Joseph Anthony McCloskey, 57, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 24 to 48 hours in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. He was also fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). He must complete a drinking drivers course at his own expense. He must pay $100 court costs and $180 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

Charles Jennings Jacobsen, 20, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment Jan. 24 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He will be on unsupervised probation for one year. He must pay a civil penalty of $1,250, a $10 DARE surcharge and $140 court costs. He must also complete a drinking drivers course at his own expense. (Sentencing: Kester)

A judgment was entered Jan. 23 against Jesse John Brosh, 42, of Scranton on a charge of reckless driving. Brosh was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. He must pay $206.10 court costs. Brosh was originally charged with assault, child endangerment, harassment and tampering with a witness. (Sentencing: Kester)

Larry Michael Most Jr, 46, of Scranton was sentenced Jan. 24 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He was sentenced to 48 hours in jail and he must complete a drinking drivers course at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Court costs were $100. William Warren Lawrence, 42, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 24 to 365 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to one count of assault on a peace officer. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. He must also pay $150 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $205.50 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty as follows: Jennifer Wendy Gohn Chavez, 42, of Jefferson, OWI-first offense and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent; and Patrick Paul Schon, 44, of Glidden, OWI-third offense. Trial dates were set for March 14 in both cases.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Michael Joseph Hofbauer, 30, of Coon Rapids, serious injury by motor vehicle – class D felony, OWI-first offense, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident; Nevin Wesley Reed, 22, of Grand Junction, assault-aggravated; Jarrett Long, 23, of Grand Junction, willful injury – class D felony, assault-aggravated, assault-serious, and trespass-serious; and Phillip Michael Kenoyer, 25, of Grand Junction, burglary-third degree, theft-fourth degree, and criminal mischief-third degree.
